Hornsby Shire Council are taking submissions regarding the Hornsby Shire 2035 Community Strategic Plan.
Now is a great time to remind Hornsby Shire Council to please cease claiming the non-Aboriginal GuriNgai are ‘traditional custodians’ or have any Cultural connection to Hornsby Shire. Even better, remove the current incorrect references to the GuriNgai group that have been installed by Hornsby Shire Council, and currently scar the landscape in and around Hornsby Shire.

Please submit your responses by 21st April 2025, via Email hsc@hornsby.nsw.gov.au, or by writing to General Manager, Hornsby Shire Council, PO Box 37, Hornsby 1630.
An example submission:
Dear Belinda Small – Community Engagement Advisor,
In regards to the Community Strategic Plan (CSP), and across all facets of Hornsby Shire there should be no reference to the ‘GuriNgai’ group and/or members/associates of that non-Aboriginal group.
Hornsby Shire Council and the wider community are fully aware this group are not recognised as being representatives of Aboriginal People, History, Culture, or organisations. Hornsby Shire Council are also aware of the extensive harm caused to Aboriginal People, History, Culture, and organisations, as well as the non-Aboriginal population, by the people self-identifying as ‘GuriNgai’.
Therefore please ensure references to this group, its members and associates are removed from the 2035 Community Strategic Plan (CSP), and from all the locations marked by GuriNgai humbug, sourced directly to the non-Aboriginal GuriNgai group.
Thank you in advance,
