Longtime advocate for the non-Aboriginal GuriNgai group, Jake Cassar is now claiming he has 40,000 followers/members/minions.
But if this was the case, why are these numbers not reflected in any tangible way?
They claimed they had ‘3000’ submissions to the NSW Planning panel go missing, however this claim was later shown to be a gross exaggeration.
Yet even if there were 3000 submissions, does this mean 37,000 of Mr Cassar’s brethren did not choose to make a submission?
The Coast Environmental Alliance (CEA) Facebook page run by Jake Cassar, his father and friends, only shows 8,000 members – and of these only a very small handful actively engage in any way.
Jake Cassar’s Facebook Page has a follower count of 10,000 – 25% of the number claimed by Mr Cassar in his ‘activism’.
‘Jake Cassar Official’ Facebook Page shows 13000 followers.
At the many protests held by Jake Cassar, CEA, the Save Kariong Sacred Lands group, and the Coasties Who Care, most events draw a crowd of 20-40 people, far short of 40,000.
There is no indication that Jake Cassar has anywhere close to the number of supporters he claims, and it does not take much effort to debunk his claim, as many have done.
In the 2022 Federal Election, the following associates of Jake Cassar and the non-Aboriginal GuriNgai ran:
| Jeffrey Lawson | 1,127 |
| Kate Mason | 1,114 |
This out of a total voter turnout of 102,484.
In 2013 Jake Cassar ran for the seat of Robertson.
| Jake Cassar | 2,480 |
This out of a total voter turnout of 94,744.
In 2010 Jake Cassar ran for the seat of Robertson.
| Jake Cassar | 1,077 |
This out of a total voter turnout of 91,136.
In NSW State Elections, the CEA/Jake Cassar/the non-Aboriginal GuriNgai have run the following candidates:
2023:
| Lisa Bellamy | 1,668 |
This out of a total voter turnout of 50,542.
2015:
| Jake Cassar | 2,698 |
This out of a total voter turnout of 49,835.
2011:
| Jake Cassar | 2,227 |
This out of a total voter turnout of 46,748.
Once again the claims of Jake Cassar do not bear any resemblance to reality, and yet he repeats them as if repetition alone can make wishes reality. Empty threats and broken promises – maybe ‘keeping the main thing, the main thing’ is what the rest of us call lying.
