Aboriginal Heritage Study
In 2018, Hornsby Shire Council (Council) decided to undertake what was described at the time as a “comprehensive heritage study of the Hornsby Shire Local Government Area (LGA), to inform amendments to planning controls that
relate to heritage”.
Page 6 of the resulting study describes how the study was conducted “in order to update data on known Aboriginal sites and places, broaden the recognition of Aboriginal cultural heritage values (sic), and identify processes for ongoing consultation and collaboration with local Aboriginal people.”
The objectives of the study were outlined in the Gap Analysis and Action Plan:
A new Aboriginal Heritage Study will update data on Aboriginal sites and places, provide an improved understanding of the current condition of Aboriginal sites, recognise Aboriginal cultural values beyond site-based values and identify mechanisms for ongoing consultation and collaboration with local Aboriginal people about their local heritage.
The study was alleged to have been undertaken by archaeologists and historians in collaboration with Aboriginal community members.
The progress of the study was supervised and guided by the Council project managers, the Hornsby Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Consultative Committee (HATSICC) and the Hornsby Heritage Advisory Committee (HAC).
Remember in 2008 when Tracey Howie received that really unusual report from one Dr Michael Bennett?
The report that featured the following egregious error/egregious lie from Dr Michael Bennett: “In my opinion, based on the available documentary evidence and you oral testimony, you have a clear connection to the Gosford Area going back to Chalotte Ashby (nee Smith), her mother Sophy and grandparent Boongaree and Matora.“
Of course its the same Dr Michael Bennett who would go on to provide what is seen by Government Officials as the Aboriginal history of the Hornsby LGA.
Tracey Howie, Kyle Howie, Laurie Bimson and Tony Bimson claim to be GuriNgai descendents, but they are not. They are not Aboriginal People, and are not accepted as Aboriginal People in the Communities in which they live.
Far from it.
Further these individuals have a longstanding, preexisting prior relationship with Michael Bennett; a relationship neither party disclosed to the HATSICC or Council.
Curiously the last sentence of the above does not contain a reference. It’s possible they are referring to the GuriNgai when they describe not involving Aboriginal community consultation at all.
WTF.
APPENDIX 2: An Aboriginal History of the Hornsby Shire (Dr Michael Bennett)
Sarah Wallace is claimed by Laurie Bimson, Neil Evers, Bob Waterer, and many more members of the GuriNgai to be their bloodline connection to Bungaree and Matora. If what is claimed here is true, then those people’s claims to be descendants of Bungaree would be false.
It was deeply uncomfortable for me to find that it’s not just Bungaree and Matora being claimed by these ridiculous phonies, but now Biddy, Elizabeth and our Country as well.
My family never have been and never were GuriNgai, as is clear given the GuriNgai did not exist prior to 2001, and sprang from the fractured mind of this man:
Who could have seen this coming?
