On the 4th of November 2024, Amanda Lissarrague and Robert Syron released Guringaygupa djuyal, barray: Language and Country of the Guringay people.
In 21 pages, this paper provides a concise guide to the historical evidence base of how and when genuine Aboriginal names such as Guringai were misinterpreted by non-Aboriginal sources, and some of the harmful consequences that result from this.

This exceptional academic work demonstrates what can be achieved through examining credible historical evidence, and working alongside knowledgeable, genuine Aboriginal People such as Mr Robert Syron,
Registered Aboriginal owner of Worimi Guringai Lands; Australian Rwandan War veteran 1994-95; ANZAC Peace Prize 1995, Meritorious Unit Citation.

Amanda Lissarrague and Robert Syron’s latest work should be required reading for anyone still unclear about why the so-called GuriNgai of the Northern Beaches, Hornsby Shire, and the Central Coast of NSW are not recognised as being a genuine Aboriginal group/clan/tribe/nation.
