Dear Gibberagong Environmental Education Centre,

My name is JD Cooke, proud Marramarra man and confirmed descendant of Bungaree and Matora. I am writing to you once more as I have been informed by multiple people that your organisation is still promoting representatives of the non-Aboriginal GuriNgai group as being Aboriginal, traditional custodians, and knowledge holders.

The GuriNgai have been categorically shown to be non-Aboriginal People, engaged in a profit making exercise involving Cultural theft and blatant Indigenous Identity appropriation.

These facts have been publicly available at guringai.org since NAIDOC 2023.

It is for these reasons that the non-Aboriginal GuriNgai group are not welcome at, even around Aboriginal People’s events, sites and especially our children.

I don’t know how I can possibly make this more plain – encouraging non-Aboriginal People to pretend to be us is offensive, it is trauma inducing, and such activities fall far short of your organisations stated aims and goals.

Laurie Bimson has been proven to be a non-Aboriginal man who is as comfortable misleading children and their care-givers as he is with threatening violence.

You students deserve better than this, and Aboriginal People everywhere deserve better than this, so please make the effort to listen, and cease actively encouraging our genocide through replacement by post-colonial knock-offs.
