The GuriNgai Cult’s evidence brochure: $1
One of the interesting developments to come out of the February 17, 2024 small town-hall gathering held by Community Voice Australia (CVA) was the sale of Information Brochures created by the GuriNgai.
These artifacts were being sold for $1 each, so even in these trying times I was able to afford one, just.

There are certainly a lot of words and numbers crammed into this double sided A4 piece of paper, so lets go through them one at a time while my sanity prevails. Starting with the section erroneously labeled ‘facts’.
THE FACTS
1.

You’ll notice no reference is given, and this factually incorrect statement is labelled a fact by the GuriNgai.
Traditional Custodian is not a traditional term, it is a legal definition, and the GuriNgai are not Traditional Custodians. They were called out for this in the past, and modified their language to ‘traditional bloodline custodians’ which has no authentic traditional or Legal meaning – it’s just a nonsense phrase that sounds vaguely Aboriginal.
2.

This is mostly true, although the inclusion of Pearl Beach is a new addition (Dr Van Davy’s Pearl Beach Historical Society was created under the watchful eye of Tracey Howie).
Notice this is not actually evidence supporting the GuriNgai’s absurd claims, it’s evidence that Aboriginal People were present – which was never in any doubt I hope.
3.

A report? Who wrote the report?
Again this is not evidence in support the GuriNgai’s absurd claims, it’s evidence that Aboriginal People were present in the areas referred to.
4.

Does he though?
No, W. Bean says there are 5 tribal groups, he does not refer to them as GuriNgai, but the GuriNgai want their audience to believe he did, despite this not being remotely true.
5.

Do they though?
Who did this mapping, how was the mapping performed and was the mapping accepted or rejected?
6.

False – Again there was no mention of the ‘GuriNgai in the text they are sourcing and misquoting, they are literally inserting the word GuriNgai into historical documents and calling it evidence; so far we find only evidence of further GuriNgai fraud.
7.

Only from the time of Colonisation? Why not prior to 1788? This is merely Point #1 repeated, and we’re only 7 ‘facts’ in.
8.

True, Dr Jim Wafer did write that; and has been roundly criticised by his peers for doing so. Jim Wafer feel under the sway of Tracey Howie and believing he had uncovered a great discovery proceeded to clumsily ‘white savior’ his way out of respectability. He’s not the first, and certainly not the last with Dr Van Davy, Jackie Pearson and Lisa Bellamy filling the void left by Dr Jim Wafer.
9.

Here we find the GuriNgai claiming my families Ngurra (Country) as their own. They are claiming Darug Country along the Southern side of the Hawksbury River as Guringai.
Then in their description of Bungaree’s immediate family, they forget to mention Sarah Lewis, the apical Ancestor of the actual Marramarra Clan.
Sarah ‘Biddy’ Lewis is my Ancestor, who is claimed by many GuriNgai to be their connection to Bungaree and Matora (in reality Sarah was Bungaree and Matora’s sole daughter).
https://guringai.org/2023/08/16/sorry-lewis-descendants-whitfield-the-white-has-cast-you-out/
By not including Sarah Lewis in their ‘facts’ the GuriNgai Cult are effectively halving their Cult by cutting out the following members claims:
– Laurie Bimson and family
– Neil Evers and family
– Bradley Twynham and family
– Sharlene Leroy-Dyer and her family.
– Sue Shilcock and her family.
Without Sarah Lewis, there is no Marramarra Clan, and there would be zero reason at all for the GuriNgai to believe they have any business at all with Hornsby Shire Council, as by their own literature they claim no connection to that area.
10.

Yes, of course there are, but as this unreferenced fact hints at, there is no evidence those massacred were GuriNgai, or in anyway connected to Tracey Howie and her followers.
11.

False. The Awabakal and Guringai Native Title Claim of 2006 was submitted. The GuriNgai performatively describe lodging a claim as if this were some meteoric accomplishment – they literally just made a claim. The GuriNgai withdrew their claim because they were unable to prove any connection, and this is what the actual court documents show.
12.

Ok – this does not mean the GuriNgai are anything but non-Aboriginal grifters though.

THE EVIDENCE
1.

The naming of locations by non-Aboriginal People is not evidence supporting the GuriNgai’s claims. That the GuriNgai present this as evidence of their claims is very telling and repeats the pattern of mischaracterizing evidence of Aboriginal People, as evidence for Howie’s fallacious claims.
2.

Yes, there are journals, lots and lots of them. They do not mention the GuriNgai, as the GuriNgai cam into existence in 2003, based on the sloppy research of Warren Whitfield from 2001-2003.
3.

Which report? Who is the Officer? Does he mention the GuriNgai?
4.

None of these are evidence, just a catalogue of peoples work and with the exception of Jim Wafer they do not even reference the made-up GuriNgai.
5.

Same again here.
6.

Again, this is not evidence, THIS is evidence:

7.

Whether this mysterious claim is true or not, this has no bearing on Tracey Howie’s claims.
8.

9.

Yes, and this list does not provide any evidence supporting Tracey Howie’s claims.
10.

What?
11 -12.

Number eleven on our list of the evidence the GuriNgai put together themselves we have three men’s names – are these men evidence in some way?
Number 12 is the actual NSW Aboriginal Land Rights Act of 1983 which is not evidence supporting the GuriNgai, it’s an Act of NSW Parliament.
–
I know I got my $1 value from the brochure, but I am in the privileged position of knowing the real story of the GuriNgai Cult, know Culture and Aboriginal Affairs, and went to the trouble of studying Journalism, then Law at University – the GuriNgai are counting on their audience not having the advantages of education or of Culture, and it really shows in their efforts after 21 long and disastrous years.
If anyone is somehow unsure still whether Tracey Howie is deliberately attempting to hoodwink the gullible and the ignorant, give A Long Con gone on Too Long a read, keep an eye out for all the contradictions and changes to their ‘truth’ Howie and her followers have claimed in just 21 years.
Shame Howie, and shame anyone smart enough to know better that helps her continue this farce she calls a tribe.
